KD Resseger (b. 1981) makes representational paintings on wood that have one foot in a stilled reality and the other in the unconscious or even psychedelic dimensions. An uncharted series of decisions and style take root by pushing and refining eccentricities that begin in experiment or accident.
On his work he writes:
I’m influenced and fond of the capacity for new forms allowed through an exhausting automatism, surrealism, maximalism, jam-packed ‘doodling’ or horror vacui, primitivism, stoner art, hyper detailed sci-fi and comic art etc…but feel these can often quickly take on their own ‘academic’ or repetitive processes even within their own eccentric creativity. I’m interested in shifting strategies between works and especially within each work. If I could pick a lineage or historic framework I choose the erratic interior rhythms of Henri Michaux rattling within the elegance of a Japanese woodblock.
